Furlong Industrial Cooling Project
Sonoco is one of the leading manufacturers of metal packaging in the United States. High-volume manufacturing of metal packaging drives Sonoco’s need for highly efficient and robust processes to mitigate downtime and loss of production.
Sonoco contacted Furlong to design a new cooling system to replace their aging equipment. With a focus on efficiency and reliability, Furlong was able to design and build a system that increases heat rejection capability and mitigates downtime risks through open tower cooling coupled with a serviceable High-K shell and tube heat exchanger. The EVAPCO, Inc. open tower cooling maximizes evaporative heat rejection while the large orifice shell and tube heat exchanger in the High K Heat Exchanger resists fouling and debris build-up while maintaining a low approach temperature resulting in increased heat rejection capacity.
THE RESULTS:
Fewer shutdowns, lower energy costs, and an overall improvement in operational stability. We’re proud to have worked with Sonoco on this transformation and continue to deliver innovative solutions that keep industries running smoothly.
